In the Grote Kerk, where the opening and closing meeting of the Synod took place, a series of five concerts is organized as part of the Synod commemoration. Each time an introduction takes place, in which the relationship with the Synod is highlighted.
On December 1 the theme is ‘Sweelinck, Speuy and the Psalms’. The then Dordrecht city organist Hendrick Speuy, who joined the Grote Kerk in 1595, is known for his psalm arrangements. These belong, as do the compositions of his contemporary Jan Pieterz. Sweelinck, to the ‘iron repertoire’.
The current city organist Cor Ardesch plays the organ and the Cappella Breda, conducted by Elisabeth Blom, contributes to it.
Tickets for this special concert are only available at the door. The normal entrance fee is 8 euros, members of the Vrienden of the Grote Kerk receive a 50 percent discount on presentation of their membership card.
