Our association organises together with the Vereniging Oud Dordrecht and the Vereniging Dordrechts Museum the closing of the Synod commemoration in the Grote Kerk.
During this closing, on Wednesday 15 May, Prof. Dr. F.A. van Lieburg, Professor of Religious History at the Faculty of Humanities of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, will give a lecture. The central question will be the state of Dordrecht after the Synod of 1618-1619.
What is special is that a digital reconstruction of the Kloveniersdoelen, the building where the Synod of Dordrecht met, will be shown. The book Synodestad: Dordrecht 1618-1619, written by Van Lieburg, is also being baptised.
The evening will be introduced by the King’s Commissioner for South Holland, Mr Smit. Mr. Smit began his career as a preacher. In addition to his current position, this is a special reason to invite him to the Salute to the Synod.
