Opening of the Helmantel exhibition

On Saturday November 24th, René Paas, born in Dordrecht and currently King’s Commissioner in the province of Groningen, will open the exhibition of the Groningen artist Henk Helmantel. The link between Groningen and Dordrecht seems centuries old. Franciscus Gomarus, foreman of the counter-remonstrants during the Synod, was professor in Groningen from 1618 until his death in 1641. He found his last resting place in the Martinikerk in Groningen.

Mrs Annabel Dijkema, curator of the Catharijneconvent Museum, will highlight Northern Realism, the art movement to which Helmantel is also attached.

Friends of the Grote Kerk have received an invitation in the mailbox. However, the meeting is open to everyone.
