The Kam organ in the Grote Kerk has 5 bellows that supply air to the 3000 pipes of the organ. These bellows could be called the lungs of the organ. These date from the construction period of the organ, 1859. They are the only ones that have not yet been restored.
Restore
The bellows should be airtight, but not anymore. The bellows will be repaired in phases, in three consecutive winter seasons.
The restoration costs more than 100,000 euros. A benefit concert will take place on 18 October. The organists André Keijzer, Johan den Hoedt and Cor Ardesch will play a special programme, consisting of request numbers. A request number with a maximum duration of 10 minutes can be submitted until 31 August online.
